This dramatically-designed CCCP*-type watch takes its inspiration from the Kashalot Class submarines which entered into service near the end of the Soviet era in 1988. These nuclear-powered submarines were built from a single hull, and are particularly adept at low-depth missions. Using skill and artistry learned over centuries, this striking lug-less watch has a unique volcano-like profile, the large case-back gently tapering to the bezel and dial. It uses a Slava mechanical movement just like those made in the Soviet era, so it requires no batteries or winding. As well as a second hand, it features a date window at 3 o’ clock.
(*The CCCP line is inspired by the long history and legacy of horology as practised in Russia. Some CCCP watches can in fact lay claim to using original Slava movements or parts of the originals – making each watch all the more collectable.)
