Use one of these LED lightbulbs, which have an integral rechargeable battery, and it will work as a normal lightbulb in your lamp or ceiling light, using 80% less energy than a standard incandescent bulb. If there’s a power cut, it will use its own battery to keep the light on for up to 3 hours. Use tactically around your home to give you light where you really need it, whether that’s a cosy corner or for navigating stairs.
